While I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ under the woolen blanket, my menstrual period began. I slipped away and took the clothes I used during menstruation.He asked, "What is the matter with you? Have you started your period?"I replied, "Yes."He then called me over, and I entered with him under the blanket.She and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to bathe from a single vessel, and he would kiss her while he was fasting.
بينما أنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في الخميلة إذ حضت، فانسللت فأخذت ثياب حيضتي، فقال: مالك أنفست؟ قلت: نعم. فدعاني، فدخلت معه في الخميلة. وكانت هي ورسول الله ﷺ يغتسلان من إناء واحد، وكان يقبلها وهو صائم.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Fasting (1929), and Muslim in the Book of Menstruation (296), both through Hisham bin Abu Abdullah Dastawai, who said, Yahya bin Abu Kathir told us, Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman told us, that Zaynab bint Umm Salama told him, from her mother, and he mentioned it.The wording given is Bukhari's. Muslim's wording is similar, except that he did not mention the point in question, which is his statement, "He used to kiss her while he was fasting."
