The Prophet ﷺ would not refuse anything from my face while he was fasting.
كان النبي ﷺ يمتنع من شيء من وجهي وهو صائم.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (25782) from Waki, from Zakariya, from Abbas bin Zurayh, from Shaybi, from Muhammad bin Ashath, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it. Ibn Hibban narrated it in his Sahih (3546) through another route from Waki, with the same wording, except that he said in it, "He does not touch anything from my face..." This is a scribal distortion and contradicts what is established in the Sahih regarding the Prophet ﷺ kissing her. Its chain is hasan on account of Muhammad bin Ashath, for he is hasan al-hadith, and he has been corroborated. This is what Ahmad narrated (24699) and Ibn Khuzayma graded sahih (2001), both from the hadith of Mutarrif, from Amir, from Masruq, who said, Ayesha said, "The Prophet ﷺ would spend the day fasting, then kiss whatever part of my face Allah willed, until he broke his fast." This is the wording of Ahmad. As for the wording of Ibn Khuzayma, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would spend the day fasting, not caring what part of my face he kissed, until he broke his fast." Yusuf said, "So he kissed whatever he wished of my face." Zafarani said, "So he kissed whatever place he wished of my face." Daraqutni said, "It appears that both wordings are sahih, from Shaybi, from Masruq and Muhammad bin Ashath, from Ayesha." al-Ilal (15/137).As for what has been narrated from her, "that the Prophet ﷺ used to kiss her while fasting and suck her tongue," this is munkar. Abu Dawud narrated it (2386), and Imam Ahmad (24916), and Ibn Khuzayma (2003), and Bayhaqi (4/234), all of them through routes from Muhammad bin Dinar, who said, Saad bin Aws Abdi told us, from Musdi Abu Yahya, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it. Ibn Arabi said, "It has reached me from Abu Dawud that he said, this chain is not sahih." I say, it is as he said, for in it is a chain of weak narrators. Muhammad bin Dinar is disputed, and the summary regarding him, as Ibn Hibban said in al-Majruhin, is that one should abandon relying on what he narrates uniquely. This is among what he narrated uniquely, in his statement "he would suck her tongue."His teacher Saad bin Aws Abdi, Ibn Main said of him, a Basran, daif. His teacher Musdi Abu Yahya Ansari, Ibn Main said, "I do not know him." Ibn Hibban said in al-Majruhin, "He used to contradict the reliable narrators in his narrations and narrate munkar reports uniquely." Aqeeli mentioned him in al-Duafa. Ibn Hajar said, "Acceptable," meaning if corroborated, but this has not been corroborated on him, so he is layyin al-hadith. Ibn Khuzayma faulted it for this reason, saying, "If it were permissible to rely on Musdi Abu Yahya, I do not know him to have either integrity or discredit."Her statement, "he would suck her tongue," is among what these weak narrators narrated uniquely, and they have not been corroborated on it. Munziri faulted it because of Muhammad bin Dinar, saying, "No one says 'and he would suck her tongue' except Muhammad bin Dinar." Also in its chain is Saad bin Aws. Ibn Main said, "A Basran, daif." Hafiz bin Qayyim quoted in Tahzib Sunan (3/263) from Abdul-Haqq that he said, "This addition regarding the sucking of the tongue is not sahih, because it comes through the narration of Muhammad bin Dinar from Saad bin Aws, and neither of them can be relied upon." See al-Ahkam al-Wusta (2/219).
