The Prophet ﷺ practiced continuous fasting toward the end of the month, and some people did the same. When this reached the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "If the month were extended for me, I would continue fasting in such a way that those who go to extremes would abandon their excess. I am not like you. I spend the night with my Lord feeding me and giving me drink."
Bukhari narrated it in "Wishing" (7241), and Muslim in "Fasting" (1104: 60), both from the hadith of Humayd, from Thabit, from Anas, as mentioned. Bukhari said, Sulayman bin Mughira also narrated it, from Thabit, from Anas, from the Prophet ﷺ. I say, Muslim also narrated it through this route. It contains, "You are not like me," or he said, "I am not like you."Bukhari also narrated it (1961) from the hadith of Shuba, who said, Qatada told me, from Anas, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Do not perform wisal." They said, "But you perform wisal?" He said, "I am not like any of you. I am fed and given drink," or, "I spend the night being fed and given drink."
