"People, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ says, 'These are not days of fasting. They are only days of eating, drinking, and remembrance.'"
أيها الناس، إن رسول الله ﷺ يقول: إنها ليست بأيام صيام، إنما هي أيام أكل وشرب وذكر.
Imam Ahmad (708) and Abu Yaala (461) both narrated it through the route of Ibn Ishaq, who said, "Abdullah bin Abu Salama told me, from Masud bin Hakam Ansari, from his mother, who told him," she said, "It is as if I can see Ali bin Abu Talib on the Messenger of Allah's white mule, when he stopped at the pass of the Ansar during the Farewell Pilgrimage, saying," and then he narrated the rest of it.Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq, for his hadith is hasan when he states his source explicitly. Ibn Khuzayma (2147) and Hakim (1/434-435) narrated it through his route as well. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Muslim," and this is as he said, for Hakim does not distinguish between the original narration and a corroborating one, and Muslim narrated from Muhammad bin Ishaq as a corroboration.The name of Masud's mother is Habiba bint Shurayq Ansariyya, and she was a companion, according to the correct view.
