It was said to the Prophet ﷺ, "There is a man who fasts continuously."He replied, "I would prefer that he eat continuously."They said, "What about fasting two-thirds of the time?"He said, "Too much."They said, "Then half?"He said, "Too much."Then he said, "Shall I tell you what removes the rancor of the heart? Fasting three days of every month."
Nasai (2385, 2386) narrated it through two routes from Sufyan and Abu Muawiya, both of them from Amash, from Abu Ammar, from Amr bin Shurahbil, from a man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and he related it.Its isnad is sahih. Abu Ammar is Uraib bin Humayd Hamdani Dahni, who is trustworthy.
