I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "No man comes to his master asking him for some of the surplus he possesses and is refused, except that on the Day of Resurrection a bald serpent will be summoned for him, licking up the surplus he withheld."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: لا يأتي رجل مولاه يسأله من فضل عنده فيمنعه إياه إلا دعي له يوم القيامة شجاع أقرع يتلمة فضله الذي منع.
Nasai narrated it (2566), and Abu Dawud following hadith number (5139), both from the hadith of Bahz bin Hakeem, with his chain of transmission, in similar wording, and the wording given here is Nasai's.Abu Dawud said, "The bald man is the one whose hair fell out due to poison."Ahmad narrated it (20020) from Abdul-Razzaq, and it is found in his Musannaf (6839), from Mamar. He also narrated it (20032) from Yazid, both of them from Bahz bin Hakeem, with his chain of transmission, in similar wording.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Bahz, for his hadith is hasan.With similar meaning is what has been narrated from Abu Hurairah, and Jareer bin Abdullah Bajali, and from a man of Banu Qushayr, but Daraqutni found fault with it, holding that the sahih version is the hadith of Bahz bin Hakeem, from his father, from his grandfather.See, Ilal Daraqutni (8/294), and (13/442).
