The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This wealth is green and sweet. What an excellent companion it is for the Muslim when he gives from it to the poor, the orphan, and the wayfarer," or as the Prophet ﷺ said. "But whoever takes it without right is like one who eats but is never satisfied, and it will be a witness against him on the Day of Resurrection."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Zakat (1465), and Muslim in the Book of Zakat (1052:123), both through Hisham Dastawai, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Hilal bin Abu Maymuna, from Ata bin Yasar, from Abu Saeed Khudri, who mentioned it in a long hadith that will come in full in its proper place.
