The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever begs while possessing forty dirhams is one who importunes."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من سأل وله أربعون درهما فهو الملحف.
Nasai (2595) narrated it from Ahmad bin Sulayman, who said, Yahya bin Adam told us, from Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Dawud bin Shabur, from Amr bin Shuayb, from his father, from his grandfather, and he mentioned it. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (2448), and narrated it through another route from Sufyan with his chain, adding at the end of the hadith, "It is like the handful of sand," meaning the sand.
