Nasai (2527) narrated it from Qutayba, who said, Layth narrated to us, from Ibn Ajlan, from Saeed bin Abu Saeed and Qaqa, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it. Imam Ahmad (8929) also narrated it through this same route. Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ajlan Madani, who is hasan al-hadith. Ibn Khuzayma (2443), Ibn Hibban (3347), and Hakim (1/416) all graded it sahih, all of them narrating it through the route of Ibn Ajlan, from Zayd bin Aslam, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it. This chain is also hasan. Ibn Ajlan has two teachers here, and both routes are hasan.As for what was narrated from Anas bin Malik, who said, the Prophet ﷺ was asked, "Which fasting is best after Ramadan?" He said, "Shaban, out of honor for Ramadan." And it was said, "Which charity is best?" He said, "Charity given in Ramadan." This is daif.Tirmidhi (662) narrated it from Muhammad bin Ismail, who said, Musa bin Ismail narrated to us, who said, Sadaqa bin Musa narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, and he mentioned it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a gharib hadith, and Sadaqa bin Musa is not considered reliable by the scholars." I say, it is as he said, for Sadaqa bin Musa, who is al-Daqiqi, was declared daif by Abu Dawud. Abu Hatim said, "He is lenient in hadith." Ibn Hibban mentioned him in al-Duafa (490) and said, "He was a righteous shaykh, but hadith was not his craft, so when he narrated he would confuse the reports, to the point that his narrations fell outside the bounds of being usable as evidence." He also said, "Yahya bin Main was asked about him and said, 'He is nothing.'"
