I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "People will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection," or he said, "the servants will be gathered, naked, uncircumcised, and buhman."We asked, "What does buhman mean?"He replied, "They will have nothing with them. Then He will call out to them in a voice heard equally by those far and near, 'I am the King, I am the Judge. No one from the people of the Fire shall enter the Fire while one of the people of the Garden has a claim against him, until I settle it for him. And no one from the people of the Garden shall enter the Garden while one of the people of the Fire has a claim against him, until I settle it for him, even for a slap.'"We asked, "How can that be, when we will come to Allah naked, uncircumcised, and with nothing at all?"He said, "By means of good deeds and bad deeds."
Ahmad narrated it (16042) - and this is his wording - and Harith bin Abu Usama (45) in his Zawaid, and Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (970), and in Khalq Afal Abbad (p. 92), and Ibn Abu Asim in Sunnah (514), and Hakim graded it sahih (2/437). All of them narrated it through routes from Hammam bin Yahya, from Qasim bin Abdul-Wahid Makki, from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah say,"A hadith reached me from a man who had heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I bought a camel, fastened my saddle on it, and traveled toward him for a month until I arrived at him in Syria. There was Abdullah bin Unays. I said to the doorman, 'Tell him Jabir is at the door.' He said, 'Ibn Abdullah?' I said, 'Yes.' So he came hurrying out, treading on his own garment, and he embraced me and I embraced him. I said, 'A hadith reached me from you, that you heard it from the Messenger of Allah concerning retaliation, and I feared that you might die, or I might die, before I heard it.' He said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say...' " and he then narrated the hadith. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Qasim bin Abdul-Wahid Makki and his teacher Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, for neither of them reached the rank of "trustworthy narrators." Munziri also graded it hasan in Targhib wa Tarhib (4/202), although Haythami, may Allah have mercy on him, graded it daif in Majma (1/133) because of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel. But the correct view is that his hadith is accepted unless he contradicts other narrators, in which case it is not accepted, as Dhahabi said in his biographical entry on him in Mizan, and he agreed with Hakim's grading it sahih in the Mustadrak. Bukhari cited it with a definite attribution (173/1) and said, "Jabir bin Abdullah traveled a month's journey to Abdullah bin Unays for the sake of a single hadith."Hafiz said in Fath al-Bari (174/1), "It has another route, which Tabarani extracted in Musnad Shamiyin, and Tamam in his Fawaid, through Hajjaj bin Dinar, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir, mentioning something similar, and he said its chain of transmission is sound. It also has a third route, which Khatib extracted in Rihla, through Abu Jarud Ansi - with a silent nun - from Jabir, mentioning something similar, though its chain of transmission contains some weakness."
