The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no day in which the servants wake up except that two angels descend. One of them says, 'O Allah, grant the one who spends a replacement,' and the other says, 'O Allah, grant the one who withholds destruction.'"
أن النبي ﷺ قال: ما من يوم يصبح العباد فيه إلا ملكان ينزلان فيقول أحدهما: اللهم أعط منفقا خلفا، ويقول الآخر اللهم أعط ممسكا تلفا.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on zakat (1442), and Muslim narrated it in the chapter on zakat (1010), both through the route of Sulayman bin Bilal, who said, Muawiya bin Muzarrid narrated to me, from Saeed bin Yasar Abu Hubab, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.His saying, "khalafan," with the fathah vowels, means "a substitute."
