The Prophet ﷺ came in while I had a heap of wealth before me, and he said, "Spend, Bilal, and do not fear that the Owner of the Throne will let you fall into poverty."
دخل النبي ﷺ وعندي صبر من المال، فقال: أنفق بلال، ولا تخش من ذي العرش إقلالا.
Bazzar narrated it in Kashf Astar (3656) from Umar bin Hasan Asadi, who said, my father narrated to me, from Israil, from Abu Ishaq, from Masruq, from Bilal, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Umar bin Hasan Asadi, who is Umar bin Muhammad bin Hasan bin Zubayr Asadi Kufi, for he is hasan al-hadith, and his father, Muhammad bin Hasan bin Zubayr, is likewise hasan al-hadith as long as he does not bring something objectionable, and this is one of his narrations.Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir (1/344) with a longer wording than this, saying, Husayn bin Ishaq Tustari narrated to us, Umar bin Muhammad bin Hasan narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Israil narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Masruq bin Ajda, from Bilal, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Feed us dates, Bilal." So I grasped some handfuls for him. Then he said, "Give us more, Bilal." So I gave him three more handfuls. Then I said, "Nothing remains except something I have set aside for the Prophet ﷺ." He said, "Spend it, Bilal, and do not fear that the Possessor of the Throne will make you poor."
