Bazzar narrated it - Kashf Astar (898) - from Saeed bin Yahya bin Saeed Umawi, who said, my father narrated to us, Yahya bin Saeed Ansari narrated to us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he mentioned it. Haythami said in "Majma" (86/3), "Bazzar narrated it and its narrators are the narrators of sahih." Ibn Hibban (3270) and Hakim (1/399) both graded it sahih from this same route. Bazzar said, "We do not know it to have been narrated in this way except by Yahya Umawi." I say, his being the sole narrator does not harm it, for Yahya Umawi is Ibn Saeed bin Aban Umawi, whom Ibn Main and Abu Dawud and others deemed reliable, and there is supporting evidence for the basic story. Hakim treated it as a corroborating witness for the hadith of Abu Righal, and said, "Sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs." I say, the hadith of Abu Righal contains a break in its chain, as Dhahabi stated, and it is coming shortly.This is the sahih version of the hadith of Ibn Umar regarding the sending of Saad bin Ubada as a collector of zakat.As for what Saeed bin Musayab narrated, from Saad bin Ubada, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Take charge of the zakat of the tribe of so-and-so, and be careful not to come on the Day of Resurrection carrying a young camel on your shoulder or on your neck, braying on the Day of Resurrection." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, relieve me of it," so he relieved him of it. This contains a break in its chain. It was narrated by Imam Ahmad (22461), Bazzar - Kashf Astar (897) -, and Tabarani in "Kabir" (5363), all of them from the hadith of Sulayman bin Mughira, who said, Humayd bin Hilal narrated to us, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Saad bin Ubada, and he mentioned it. Bazzar said, "We do not know it from Saad except from this route, and its chain is hasan." I say, no, rather it contains a break, for Saeed bin Musayab never met Saad bin Ubada. See "Majma" (3/85).
