The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The hoarded wealth of one of them will appear on the Day of Resurrection as a bald-headed venomous serpent with two black spots above its eyes. It will pursue its owner while he flees from it seeking refuge, and it will keep pursuing him until it swallows his finger."
عن رسول الله ﷺ أنه قال: يكون كنز أحدهم يوم القيامة شجاعا أقرع ذا زبيبتين يتبع صاحبه وهو يتعوذ منه ولا يزال يتبعه حتى يلقمه أصبعه.
Imam Ahmad (8933) narrated it from Qutayba, who said, "Layth bin Saad narrated to us, from Ibn Ajlan, from Qaqa bin Hakeem, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah," and he mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan because of Ibn Ajlan, who is Muhammad al-Madani, for his hadith is hasan. Ibn Khuzayma (2254) and Ibn Hibban (3258) graded it sahih, as did Hakim (1/389), who said, "It meets the criteria of Muslim."
