Ayesha reported,

A Jewish woman came and begged for food at my door, saying, "Feed me, may Allah protect you from the trial of Dajjal and from the trial of the punishment of the grave."Ayesha said, I kept her waiting until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived.I said, "Messenger of Allah, what is this Jewish woman saying?"He asked, "What is she saying?"I replied, "She says, 'May Allah protect you from the trial of Dajjal and from the trial of the punishment of the grave.'"Ayesha continued, The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then stood up, raised his hands fully, and sought refuge with Allah from the trial of Dajjal, from the trial of Dajjal, and from the trial of the punishment of the grave. Then he said, "As for the trial of Dajjal, there has never been a prophet who did not warn his nation about him, and I shall warn you of him with a warning no prophet has ever given his nation. He is one-eyed, while Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is not one-eyed. Written between his eyes is the word 'disbeliever,' which every believer will read.As for the trial of the grave, you will be tested concerning me and questioned about me. When a righteous man is placed in his grave, he is seated without fear or alarm. Then he is asked, 'What was your religion?' He answers, 'Islam.' He is asked, 'Who was this man who was sent among you?' He replies, 'Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He brought us clear proofs from Allah, and we believed him.' Then an opening is made for him toward the Fire, and he sees parts of it crashing into other parts. He is told, 'Look at what Allah has saved you from.' Then an opening is made for him toward Paradise, and he sees its splendor and all that it contains. He is told, 'This is your place in it.' And it is said, 'You lived in certainty, you died upon it, and upon it you will be resurrected, Allah willing.'But when an evil man is placed in his grave, he is seated terrified and panic-stricken. He is asked, 'What was your religion?' He replies, 'I do not know.' He is asked, 'Who was this man who was sent among you?' He says, 'I heard people saying something, so I said what they said.' Then an opening is made for him toward Paradise, and he sees its splendor and all that it contains. He is told, 'Look at what Allah has turned away from you.' Then an opening is made for him toward the Fire, and he sees parts of it crashing into other parts. He is told, 'This is your place in it. You lived in doubt, you died upon it, and upon it you will be resurrected, Allah willing.' Then he is punished."

عن عائشة قالت

جاءت يهودية، فاستطعمت على بابي، فقالت: أطعموني، أعاذكم الله من فتنة الدجال، ومن فتنة عذاب القبر، قالت: فلم أزل أحبسها، حتى جاء رسول الله ﷺ، فقلت: يا رسول الله، ما تقول هذه اليهودية؟ قال: وما تقول؟ قلت: تقول: أعاذكم الله من فتنة الدجال، ومن فتنة عذاب القبر! قالت عائشة: فقام رسول الله ﷺ فرفع يديه مدا يستعيذ بالله من فتنة الدجال، ومن فتنة الدجال، ومن فتنة عذاب القبر، ثم قال: أما فتنة الدجال، فإنه لم يكن نبي إلا قد حذر أمته، وسأحذر كموه تحذيرا لم يحذره نبي أمته، إنه أعور، والله عزوجل ليس بأعور، مكتوب بين عينيه: كافر، يقرؤه كل مؤمن، فأما فتنة القبر، فبي تفتئون، وعنى تسألون، فإذا كان الرجل الصالح، أجلس في قبره غير فزع، ولا مشعوف، ثم يقال له: فيم كنت؟ فيقول: في الإسلام؟ فيقال: ما هذا الرجل الذي كان فيكم؟ فيقول محمد رسول الله ﷺ، جاءنا بالبينات من عند الله عز وجل، فصدقناه، فيفرج له فرجة قبل النار، فينظر إليها يحطم بعضها بعضا، فيقال له: انظر إلى ما وقاك الله عز وجل، ثم يفرج له فرجة إلى الجنة، فينظر إلى زهرتها وما فيها، فيقال له: هذا مقعدك منها، ويقال: على اليقين كنت وعليه مت، وعليه تبعث إن شاء الله. وإذا كان الرجل السوء، أجلس في قبره فزعا مشعوفا، فيقال له: فيم كنت؟ فيقول: لا أدري، فيقال: ما هذا الرجل الذي كان فيكم؟ فيقول: سمعت الناس يقولون قولا، فقلت كما قالوا، فتفرج له فرجة قبل الجنة، فينظر إلى زهرتها وما فيها فيقال له: انظر إلى ما صرف الله عز وجل عنك، ثم يفرج له فرجة قبل النار، فينظر إليها يحطم بعضها بعضا، ويقال له: هذا مقعدك منها، كنت على الشك، وعليه مت، وعليه تبعث إن شاء الله، ثم يعذب.
