The Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced the death of Najashi to the people on the very day he died. He took them out to the prayer ground, arranged them in rows, and recited four takbirs over him.
أن رسول الله ﷺ نعى النجاشي للناس في اليوم الذي مات فيه، وخرج بهم إلى المصلى، فصف بهم وكبر أربع تكبيرات.
Malik narrated it in al-Janaiz (14) from Ibn Shihab, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it. Bukhari narrated it in al-Janaiz (1245), and Muslim in al-Janaiz (951), both from the hadith of Malik with the same wording. In another version, "So he rose and we rose until he reached Baqi." Abu Dawud Tayalisi narrated it (2300), and it contains Zama bin Salih al-Jundi, whom the majority of scholars unanimously agree upon as daif.
