The Prophet ﷺ said when Negus died, "A righteous man has died today, so stand and pray over your brother Ashamah."
قال النبي ﷺ حين مات النجاشي: مات اليوم رجل صالح، فقوموا فصلوا على أخيكم أصحمة.
Bukhari reported it in the Merits of the Ansar (3877), and Muslim in the Funerals (65/952), both from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj, from Ataa, from Jabir bin Abdullah, and he narrated it, with the wording being Bukhari's. Muslim added, "So he stood, led us, and prayed over him."
