The Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced the death of Najashi to the people on the very day he died. He took them out to the prayer ground, arranged them in rows, and recited four takbirs over him.
أن رسول الله ﷺ نعى النجاشي للناس في اليوم الذي مات فيه، وخرج بهم إلى المصلى، فصف بهم وكبر أربع تكبيرات.
Malik narrated it in Janaiz (14) from Ibn Shihab, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah, as mentioned. Bukhari narrated it in Janaiz (1245) from Ismail, and Muslim in Janaiz (951) from Yahya bin Yahya, both of them from Malik, with the same wording.
