Rubai said, I visited Khabab when he had been cauterized seven times. He said, "Had I not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'None of you should wish for death,' I would have wished for it. I remember being with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when I did not own a single dirham, yet now in the corner of my house there are forty thousand dirhams."Then his burial shroud was brought to him. When he saw it, he wept and said, "But Hamza was not found a shroud except for a striped cloak. When it was placed over his head, it left his feet uncovered, and when it was placed over his feet, it left his head uncovered. So it was stretched over his head, and idhkhir grass was placed over his feet."
دخلت على خباب، وقد اكتوى سبعا فقال: لولا أني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: لا يتمنى أحدكم الموت لتمنيت، ولقد رأيتني مع رسول الله ﷺ ما أملك درهما، وإن في جانب بيتي الآن لأربعين ألف درهم. قال: ثم أتي بكفنه، فلما رأه بكى وقال: لكن حمزة لم يوجد له كفن إلا بردة ملحاء، إذا جعلت على رأسه قلصت عن قدميه، وإذا جعلت على قدميه قلصت عن رأسه، حتى مدت على رأسه، وجعل على قدميه الإذخر.
Tirmidhi (970) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Muhammad bin Jafar told us, Shubah told us, from Abu Ishaq, from Haritha bin Mudarrib, and he related the hadith, except that Tirmidhi did not mention the story of Hamza's shroud. Imam Ahmad (21072, 27219) mentioned it, and the wording given here is his, from another route, from Israel, from Abu Ishaq with his chain.Tirmidhi said, "A hasan sahih hadith." Its basis is found in the Sahihayn.
