Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf reported,

One day, food was brought to Abdul Rahman bin Awf, and he said, "Musab bin Umayr was killed, and he was better than I am, yet nothing could be found to shroud him in except a single cloak. I truly fear that the good things due to us have been hastened for us in this worldly life." Then he began to weep.

عن سعد بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه إبراهيم قال

أتى عبد الرحمن بن عوف يوما بطعامه، فقال: قتل مصعب بن عمير- وكان خيرا مني- فلم يوجد له ما يكفن فيه إلا بردة، لقد خشيت أن يكون قد عجلت لنا طيباتنا في حياتنا الدنيا، ثم جعل يبكي.
