The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best of your clothes are the white ones, so shroud your dead in them and wear them yourselves."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: خير ثيابكم البياض، فكفنوا فيها موتاكم، وألبسوها.
Abu Dawud (3878), Tirmidhi (994), Nasai (5113), and Ibn Majah (1472) all narrated it through the route of Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who related the hadith. The wording given here is that of Ibn Majah. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (5423), and Hakim (1/354) did as well, saying, "Sahih according to the standard of Muslim." Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih."I say, its chain includes Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym, who is among the narrators of Muslim. Abu Hatim said of him, "There is no harm in him," and Nasai deemed him reliable, though he weakened his assessment of him in the Sunan. The conclusion regarding him is that his hadith is hasan.
