Ali reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, "The deceased is tormented by the wailing made over him."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: الميت يعذب بما نيح عليه.
Imam Ahmad (20110) and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (6896) both narrated it from the hadith of Abdul-Samad, who said, "Umar bin Ibrahim narrated to us, Qatada narrated to us, from Hasan, from Samura," and he related it.Its chain of transmission is sahih. As for Hasan's hearing from Samura, the sahih view held by the majority of scholars is that he heard from him without restriction, meaning both the hadith about aqiqah and other hadiths.
