The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A brother of yours has died, so stand and pray over him," meaning the Negus.In another narration, "Your brother."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن أخا لكم قد مات، فقوموا فصلوا عليه يعني النجاشي. وفي رواية: إن أخاكم.
Muslim narrated it in Janaiz (953) through several routes from Ibn Ulaya, from Ayub, from Abu Qilaba, from Abu Muhallab, from Imran bin Husayn, who related it.In the Sunan it reads, "So we stood and formed rows over him as one lines up over the dead, and we prayed over him as one prays over the dead." Nasai narrated it (1975) through the route of Muhammad bin Sirin, from Abu Muhallab, with his chain of transmission.
