The Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced the death of the Negus, ruler of Abyssinia, on the very day he died and said, "Seek forgiveness for your brother."
نعى رسول الله ﷺ النجاشي صاحب الحبشة يوم الذي مات فيه فقال: استغفروا لأخيكم.
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Funerals (1327), and Muslim in the Book of Funerals (63/951), both from the hadith of Layth bin Saad, from Aqeel bin Khalid, from Ibn Shihab, from Saeed bin Musayab and Abu Salama, that they both narrated it to him from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it.
