The Prophet ﷺ visited a young man who was dying and asked, "How do you feel?"The young man replied, "By Allah, Messenger of Allah, I have hope in Allah, and I fear my sins."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "These two do not come together in the heart of a servant at such a moment without Allah granting him what he hopes for and securing him from what he fears."
أن النبي ﷺ دخل على شاب وهو في الموت فقال: كيف تجدك؟ قال: والله يا رسول الله إني أرجو الله، وإني أخاف ذنوبي. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: لا يجتمعان في قلب عبد في مثل هذا الموطن إلا أعطاه الله ما يرجو، وآمنه مما يخاف.
Tirmidhi (983) and Ibn Majah (4261) both reported it via Sayar bin Hatim, who said, Jafar bin Sulayman narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Sayar bin Hatim, about whom Hafiz said, "Truthful but has errors," except that he was corroborated. Abd bin Humayd (1370) reported it from Yahya bin Abdul-Hameed, who said, Jafar bin Sulayman narrated to us with his chain, and he mentioned it. Yahya bin Abdul-Hameed Hamani is a hafiz among the narrators of Muslim, except that he was accused of stealing hadiths, but there is no harm in him when corroborated.As for Tirmidhi's statement, "hasan gharib, and some have narrated this hadith from Thabit, from the Prophet ﷺ as a mursal narration," this does not cause harm, because whoever raised it to the Prophet possesses additional knowledge.
