The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The most complete of believers in faith are those with the best character, and the best of you are those who are best in character to their wives."
قال رسول الله ﷺ أكمل المؤمنين إيمانا أحسنهم خلقا، وخياركم خياركم لنسائهم خلقا.
Tirmidhi (1162), Abu Dawud (4682), and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih (479, 4176) all narrated it through the hadith of Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith, with the wording given here being Tirmidhi's. Abu Dawud included only the first part. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih." I say, it is hasan only, because of Muhammad bin Amr, who is Ibn Alqama Laythi, for there is disagreement about him, though his hadith is hasan.Ahmad (7402) and Hakim (3/1) also narrated it through this same route, but only the first part, and Hakim said, "Sahih according to the standard of Muslim."
