The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever gives for the sake of Allah, withholds for the sake of Allah, loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the sake of Allah, and gives in marriage for the sake of Allah has perfected his faith."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من أعطى لله، ومنع لله، وأحب لله، وأبغض لله، وأنكح لله، فقد استكمل إيمانه.
Tirmidhi (2521) narrated it from Abbas Duri, who said, Abdullah bin Yazid narrated to us, who said, Saeed bin Abu Ayub narrated to us, from Abu Marhum Abdul-Rahim bin Maymun, from Sahl bin Muaz bin Anas Juhani, from his father, and he related the hadith.Imam Ahmad (15638) also recorded it, as did Hakim (2/164), and from him Bayhaqi in Shuab al-Iman (15), both of them through the route of Abdullah bin Yazid Muqri with this chain.Tirmidhi said it is hasan. I say, it is as he said, for Abdul-Rahim bin Maymun, Abu Marhum, is truthful. As for Hakim's statement that it is "sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs," the correct view is that it does not meet the standard of either of them, for Bukhari and Muslim did not narrate from Abdul-Rahim bin Maymun or Sahl bin Muaz.
