The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the sake of Allah, gives for the sake of Allah, and withholds for the sake of Allah has perfected his faith."
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: من أحب لله، وأبغض لله، وأعطى لله، ومنع لله، فقد استكمل الإيمان.
Abu Dawud (4681) narrated it from Muammal bin Fadl, who said, Muhammad bin Shuayb bin Shabur narrated to us, from Yahya bin Harith, from Qasim, from Abu Umama, and he mentioned the hadith. Its chain is hasan, due to the discussion concerning Qasim, who is Ibn Abdul-Rahman Dimashqi, the companion of Abu Umama, except that his hadith is hasan. Abu Umama is Sudayy bin Ajlan Bahili.
