A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ who was afflicted with a touch of madness. She said, "Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to heal me."He said, "If you wish, I will pray to Allah to heal you, and if you wish, you may bear it patiently and you will have no reckoning."She said, "I will bear it patiently, and I will have no reckoning."
جاءت امرأة إلى النبى ﷺ بها لمم، فقالت: يا رسول الله! ادع الله أن يشفيني. قال: إن شئت دعوت الله أن يشفيك، وإن شئت فاصبري ولا حساب عليك. قالت: بل أصبر، ولا حساب علي.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (9689) from Muhammad bin Ubayd, who said, "Muhammad bin Amr told us, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah," and he related the hadith. Bazzar also narrated it (772 - Kashf Astar) through the route of Muhammad bin Amr, with the same wording. Its isnad is hasan, because of Muhammad bin Amr, who is Laythi, described as "truthful."Ibn Hibban narrated it in his Sahih (2909), and Hakim (4/218), both through this same route. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Muslim." Haythami attributed it in Majma (2/307) to Bazzar, and said, "Bazzar narrated it, and its isnad is hasan." He overlooked attributing it to Ahmad.Lamam refers to a touch of madness, which afflicts and comes over a person.
