We came in to visit the Prophet ﷺ while he was suffering from a fever. We said, "Ah, ah! May our fathers and mothers be your ransom, Messenger of Allah, how severe your fever is!"He said, "We prophets have our trials multiplied for us."We said, "Glory be to Allah!"He said, "Are you astonished? The people most severely tried are the prophets, then the righteous, then those next in rank, and then those next in rank."We said, "Glory be to Allah!"He said, "Are you astonished? One of the prophets would have to wrap himself in a coarse cloak out of poverty, finding nothing else to wear."We said, "Glory be to Allah!"He said, "Are you astonished? One of the prophets would be killed by lice."We said, "Glory be to Allah!"He said, "Are you astonished? They used to rejoice in trials just as you rejoice in ease."
دخلنا على النبي ﷺ وهو يوعك. فقلنا: أخ أخ، بآبائنا وأمهاتنا يا رسول الله! ما أشد وعكك! فقال: إنا معشر الأنبياء يضاعف علينا البلاء تضعيفا. قال: قلنا: سبحان الله! قال: أفعجبتم؟ إن أشد الناس بلاء الأنبياء، والصالحون، الأمثل فالأمثل. قلنا سبحان الله! قال: أفعجبتم؟ إن كان النبي ﷺ من الأنبياء ليدرع العباءة من الحاجة لا يجد غيرها. قلنا: سبحان الله! قال: أفعجبتم؟ إن كان النبي من الأنبياء ليقتله القمل. قلنا: سبحان الله! قال: أفعجبتم؟ إن كانوا ليفرحون بالبلاء كما تفرحون بالرخاء.

Ibn Abu Dunya reported it in Al-Marad wal-Kaffarat (5) from Ubaydullah bin Umar Jushami and others, they said, Yahya bin Salim Taifi told us, Ismail bin Kathir told us, from Ziyad bin Abu Ziyad, the freedman of Ibn Ayyash, from one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, who said, and then he related it.Its chain is hasan, for although Yahya bin Salim Taifi is among the narrators accepted by the community of scholars, he is nevertheless disputed. Nasai and Daraqutni criticized him, while Ibn Main, Ibn Saad, Ibn Hibban, Ajli and others affirmed his reliability. He is hasan al-hadith.As for Ziyad bin Abu Ziyad, the freedman of Maysara Makhzumi, the Madinan, client of Abdullah bin Ayyash bin Abu Rabia, he is among the narrators of Muslim. He narrated from his patron and from a group of the companions. Nasai and others affirmed his reliability, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Al-Thiqat, saying, "He was devout and ascetic."Malik said, "Umar bin Abdul-Aziz used to honor him." He also said, "He was a devout man who kept apart from others, always remaining alone."
