Ubayy said, "I placed my hand on the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'May my father and mother be ransomed for you, how intense your fever is!' He was suffering from fever that day."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Indeed, we are afflicted with double the trial just as we are granted double the reward."
وضعت يدي على النبي ﷺ، فقلت: بأبي وأمي ما أجرك! وهو يومئذ محموم، فقال: إن كنا يضاعف لنا البلاء كما يضاعف لنا الأجر.

Ibn Abu Dunya narrated it in Al-Marad wal-Kaffarat (241) from Abdul-Rahman bin Salih, who said, Ali bin Thabit narrated to us, from Uzai, from Nafi, from Salim bin Abdullah, from his father, from Umar, and he mentioned something similar. Its chain of transmission is sahih. As for Ali bin Thabit, who is Jazari, Hafiz said of him, "Truthful, though he sometimes erred, and Azdi declared him daif without proof." This is what he said, but the correct view is that he is trustworthy, since Ibn Main, Abu Dawud, Abu Zura, and Ibn Saad all affirmed his reliability, and Nasai said, "There is no harm in him." Ibn Hibban also mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. On this subject there is also a narration from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Prophet ﷺ was asked, "Who among people suffers the most trials?" He replied, "The prophets, then the righteous." Ibn Abu Dunya narrated it in Al-Marad wal-Kaffarat (4), but it contains Layth, who is Ibn Abu Salim, whom the majority of scholars declared daif due to the weakness of his memory and his confusion in his later years. Ibn Hibban said, "He became confused in his later years, so he would mix up chains of transmission, attribute incomplete reports as if they were connected, and relate from trustworthy narrators things that were not actually part of their hadiths."On this subject there is also a narration from Ayesha, transmitted directly from the Prophet, "We, the community of prophets, are afflicted with intense pain so that it may expiate our sins." Ibn Abu Dunya narrated it in Al-Marad wal-Kaffarat (9), from Ibrahim (who is Ibn Ziyad Sablan), who said, Yahya bin Bukayr narrated to me, who said, Ibn Lahia narrated to us, who said, Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman narrated to me, from Urwa, from Ayesha, who said, "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell ill, his suffering would intensify, sometimes lasting fifteen nights during which he could not sleep, and he would be afflicted with pain in the kidney area, that is, the flank. So we said, 'Messenger of Allah, if only you would pray to Allah to relieve you of this.'" Then she went on to relate the rest of the hadith. There is well known discussion concerning Ibn Lahia, and this hadith is not transmitted through any of the Abadila from him.On this subject there is also a narration from Ayesha, transmitted directly from the Prophet, "Whoever is struck by a calamity should find consolation in my calamity, for none of my ummah will ever be struck by anything more severe than it." Ibn Majah narrated it (1599), from the hadith of Musa bin Ubayda, who said, Musab bin Muhammad narrated to us, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, from Ayesha, and he related it. It contains Musa bin Ubayda Rabazi, whom the scholars unanimously declared daif, and on this basis Busiri declared it daif in Zawaid bin Majah.
