Marwan appointed Abu Hurairah as his deputy over Madinah and set out for Makkah. Abu Hurairah led us in the Friday prayer, and after Surah al-Jumuah he recited in the second rakah, "When the hypocrites come to you" [Munafiqun 63:1].I caught up with Abu Hurairah as he was leaving and said to him, "You recited two surahs that Ali bin Abu Talib used to recite in Kufa."Abu Hurairah replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recite them on Friday."
Muslim narrated it in Jumuah (877), from Abdullah bin Maslama, who said, Sulayman (that is, Ibn Bilal) told us, from Jafar, from his father, from Abu Rafi, and he related it.In another version, from Abdullah bin Abu Rafi, from Abu Hurairah, he recited Surah Jumuah in the first sajdah, and in the last, "When the hypocrites come to you" [Munafiqun 63:1].
