There was a tree trunk that the Prophet ﷺ used to stand by when delivering sermons. When the pulpit was made for him, we heard the trunk make a sound like the moaning of a pregnant camel, until the Prophet ﷺ came down and placed his hand upon it.
كان جذع يقوم إليه النبي ﷺ، فلما وضع له المنبر سمعنا للجذع مثل أصوات العشار، حتى نزل النبي ﷺ فوضع يده عليه.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Friday Prayer (918) from Saeed bin Abu Maryam, from Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, "Yahya bin Saeed informed me," who said, "Ibn Anas informed me, that he heard Jabir," and he related the hadith.The hadith was also brought out in the Book of Virtues (3585) through the route of Sulayman bin Bilal, from Yahya bin Saeed, with the same chain. Its wording is, "The masjid was roofed over beams made of palm trunks, and when the Prophet ﷺ would deliver a sermon, he would stand by one of these trunks. When the pulpit was made for him and he stood on it, we heard from that trunk a sound like the sound of pregnant she-camels, until the Prophet ﷺ came and placed his hand on it, and it grew still."His saying, "like the sounds of pregnant she-camels" the word ushar, with a kasrah, is the plural of ushara, like fuqaha, and it refers to a she-camel that has passed ten months since conceiving.
