The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stand by the trunk of a tree, or he said, by a palm-stump, when delivering the sermon. Then a pulpit was made for him.The palm-stump moaned with longing. Jabir said, "The people in the mosque heard it, until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to it and stroked it, and it grew quiet."Some of them said, "Had he not come to it, it would have kept moaning until the Day of Resurrection."
كان رسول الله ﷺ يقوم إلى أصل شجرة، أو قال: إلى جذع، ثم اتخذ منبرا، قال: فحن الجذع، قال جابر: حتى سمعه أهل المسجد، حتى أتاه رسول الله ﷺ فمسحه فسكن، فقال بعضهم: لو لم يأته لحن إلى يوم القيامة.
Ibn Majah (1417) narrated it from Abu Bishr, Bakr bin Khalaf, who said, Ibn Abu Adi told us, from Sulayman Taymi, from Abu Nadra, from Jabir, and he mentioned it.Nasai (1396) also narrated it through the hadith of Ibn Jurayj, that Abu Zubayr informed him that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah mention it, and it contains, "When the pulpit was set up and he stood upon it, that pillar shook."Its isnad is hasan, the shaykh of Ibn Majah being truthful.Busiri said, "Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are trustworthy."
