While Umar bin Khattab was standing delivering the Friday sermon, a man from the earliest emigrants among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ entered. Umar called out to him, "What hour is this?"The man replied, "I was occupied and did not return to my family until I heard the call to prayer, so I did no more than perform ablution."Umar said, "Just ablution as well? You know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to order the full bath."
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Jumuah (878) through the route of Malik, and Muslim reported it in the Book of Jumuah (845) through the route of Yunus, both of them from Zuhri, from Salim bin Abdullah, from Ibn Umar, as he mentioned it. The hadith is in Muwatta according to the narration of Yahya, in the Book of Jumuah (3), from Zuhri, from Salim bin Abdullah, who said, "A man from among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ entered..." This is mursal, because Salim did not reach his grandfather Umar, as Abu Zura and others have mentioned.
