Malik narrated it in the Jumuah chapter (5), from Nafi, from Ibn Umar. He then mentioned it. Bukhari narrated it in the Jumuah chapter (877), from Abdullah bin Yusuf, from Malik. Muslim also reported it in the Jumuah chapter (844), through a route other than Malik, and in it, "When any of you intends to come to Jumuah, let him perform ghusl." In another narration with Bukhari (919) and Muslim, both through another route from Ibn Umar, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that he said while standing on the pulpit, "Whoever among you comes to Jumuah, let him perform ghusl."As for what Ibn Khuzayma (1752) and Ibn Hibban (1226) narrated through the route of Uthman bin Waqid, who said, Nafi narrated to me, from Ibn Umar, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever comes to Jumuah, whether men or women, let him perform ghusl, and whoever does not come to it, there is no ghusl required of him, whether men or women." This is daif. Uthman bin Waqid has been criticized, and the leading scholars found this hadith objectionable from him. Abu Dawud said, "He is daif. He narrated the hadith, 'Whoever comes to Jumuah, whether men or women, let him perform ghusl,' and no one but him said this." Bazzar said, "I fear that Uthman bin Waqid made an error in it."
