The Prophet ﷺ came to her on a Friday while she was fasting and asked, "Did you fast yesterday?"She replied, "No."He asked, "Do you intend to fast tomorrow?"She replied, "No."He said, "Then break your fast."
أن النبي ﷺ دخل عليها يوم الجمعة، وهي صائمة، فقال: أصمت أمس؟ قالت: لا. قال: أتريدين أن تصومي غدا؟ قالت: لا. قال: فأفطري.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Fasting (1986) through several routes from Shubah, from Qatada, from Abu Ayub, from Juwayria bint Harith, and she related the same. Juwayria bint Harith, from Banu Mustaliq, was a Mother of the Believers whose name had been Barra, but the Prophet ﷺ changed it. Al-Hafiz said in Fath al-Bari (4/234), "Juwayria, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, has no narration in Bukhari other than this hadith."
