Tirmidhi (489) narrated it from Abdullah bin Sabbah Hashimi Basri, who said, Ubaydullah bin Abdul-Majid Hanafi told us, Muhammad bin Abu Humayd told us, he said, Musa bin Wardan told us, from Anas, and he related it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hadith gharib from this angle, and this hadith has been narrated from Anas, from the Prophet ﷺ, by a route other than this one. Muhammad bin Abu Humayd is graded daif, some scholars weakened him on account of his memory, he is also called Hammad bin Abu Humayd, and it is said he is Abu Ibrahim Ansari, and he is munkar al-hadith." End of quote.I say, Muhammad bin Abu Humayd is daif by the agreement of the scholars, but Ibn Adi said, despite his weakness, his hadith is written down, meaning for the purpose of corroboration. I have found a corroborator for him, namely Ibn Lahia, from Musa bin Wardan. Tabarani related it in al-Awsat (136) through his route. There is well-known discussion about Ibn Lahia, but he was not accused of lying, and therefore he is accepted for corroboration purposes. With this, the hadith becomes hasan.As for Musa bin Wardan, there is disagreement about him, but his hadith is hasan so long as it does not conflict in the chain of transmission, and nothing objectionable appears in his narration.
