The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "On Friday there are twelve hours, meaning one specific hour, in which no Muslim asks Allah for anything but Allah
grants it to him. So seek it in the last hour after the Asr prayer."
Abu Dawud (1048) and Nasai (1389) both narrated it through the route of Ibn Wahb, from Amr bin Harith, from Jullah, the freedman of Abdul-Aziz, that Abu Salama told him, from Jabir bin Abdullah, who related it. Its chain is hasan because of Jullah, for he is truthful. Hakim graded it sahih (1/279) according to the criterion of Muslim, and said, "Abu Kathir relied on Jullah as evidence, but Bukhari and Muslim did not include it."It has also been narrated with the same meaning from Abu Saeed Khudri and Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is an hour on Friday in which no Muslim servant coincides while asking Allah for something good without Him granting it to him, and it is after Asr." Ahmad (7688) narrated it from Abdul-Razzaq, and it is also in his Musannaf (5584), he said, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Abbas told me a hadith, from Muhammad bin Maslama Ansari, from Abu Saeed Khudri and Abu Hurairah, who related it.This hadith was also recorded by Aqeeli (4/140) through the route of Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Adam bin Musa told me, saying, I heard Bukhari say, "Muhammad bin Maslama Ansari, from Abu Saeed and Abu Hurairah, concerning the hour of Friday, is not corroborated." Aqeeli said, "The narration concerning the merit of the hour that occurs on Friday is established from the Prophet ﷺ ﷺ through a route other than this one. As for the specification of its timing, the narration about it is..." here he said "his father," which appears to be a mistake, and I think it should read "weak," as will follow. Then he said, "Abbas is an unknown man, not known, and Muhammad bin Maslama is likewise unknown. As for the timing being at Asr, the narration about that is weak as well."This is what he said, even though the specification of the timing as being at Asr is also established through narration, just as the specification of the time being between when the imam sits down and when the prayer is concluded is also established. Zuhri, in the place referred to earlier, transmitted from some of the people of knowledge among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ and others, that the hour hoped for is after Asr until sunset, and this is the view held by Ahmad and Ishaq. Ahmad said, "Most of the hadiths about the hour in which the answering of prayer is hoped for indicate that it is after the Asr prayer, and it is hoped for after the sun has passed its zenith."It has also been narrated from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said, "The hour mentioned in connection with Friday is between the Asr prayer and sunset." Saeed bin Jubayr, whenever he prayed Asr, would not speak to anyone until the sun set. Hafiz bin Qayyim said, "This is the view of most of the early generations, and most of the hadiths support it."
