The prayer of Adha is two rakats, the prayer of Fitr is two rakats, the prayer of the traveler is two rakats, and the Friday prayer is two rakats. They are complete, not shortened, according to the tongue of the Prophet ﷺ. And whoever fabricates has failed.
صلاة الأضحى ركعتان، وصلاة الفطر ركعتان، وصلاة المسافر ركعتان، وصلاة الجمعة ركعتان، تمام ليس بقصر على لسان النبي ﷺ، وقد خاب من افترى.
Nasai narrated it in Sunan al-Kubra (490), and the wording is his, as did Ibn Majah (1064) and Ibn Khuzayma (1425), all of them through Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numayr, who said, Muhammad bin Bishr narrated to us, he said, Yazid bin Ziyad bin Abu Jaad informed us, from Zubayd, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from Kaab bin Ujra, from Umar, and he related it. The wording given is Ibn Khuzayma's.Yazid bin Ziyad bin Abu Jaad, the Ashjai, the Kufi, was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Main and Ajli, and Abu Hatim said, "There is nothing wrong with his hadith." But Sufyan differed from him, narrating it from Zubayd, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from Umar directly.Nasai narrated it through this chain (1420, 1566), as did Imam Ahmad (257) and Ibn Hibban (2783). This chain is disconnected, because Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla never met Umar, as stated by Ibn Madini, Yahya bin Main, Shuba, and others. It has been suggested that it is possible he heard from him, since he was born during the caliphate of Siddiq, or even before it. Abu Hatim favored the disconnected narration, as noted in Ilal (1381), because Sufyan has a stronger memory than Yazid bin Ziyad. Others said that an addition from a trustworthy narrator is to be accepted. And Allah knows best.
