The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go out on the day of Eid and pray two units of prayer. Then he would deliver a sermon and order the people to give charity, and most of those who gave were the women. If he had some matter to address, or wished to dispatch a military expedition, he would speak about it. Otherwise, he would return.
Nasai (1579) narrated it from Amr bin Ali, who said, Yahya (that is, Ibn Saeed Qattan) told us, who said, Dawud bin Qays told us, who said, Iyad (that is, the son of Abdullah bin Abu Sarh) told me, from Abu Saeed, and he related it.Abdul-Razzaq (5634) also narrated it, and from him Imam Ahmad (11507), and from Yahya bin Saeed (11508). Abdul-Razzaq said, "with the ring, the earring, and the item," and he mentioned its meaning.Ibn Majah (1288) narrated it from Abu Kurayb, who said, Abu Usama told us, who said, Dawud bin Qays told us, and in it, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would go out on the day of the festival and lead the people in two units of prayer, then finish with the salutation and stand on his feet, facing the people while they remained seated, and say, "Give charity, give charity." Most of those who gave charity were women, giving earrings, rings, and other items. If he had some need requiring him to send out a mission, he would mention it to them, otherwise he would leave. The basic hadith of Abu Saeed is found in the Sahihayn and other collections, and it will come up in the chapter "The prayer before the sermon."
