It is from the Sunnah not to go out on the day of Eid al-Fitr until you have given the charity, and to eat something before going out.

Tabarani reported it in Kabir (11/141–142) from Husayn bin Jafar Qattat Kufi, who said, "Ismail bin Khalil Khazzaz narrated to us," who said, "Ali bin Mushir narrated to us from Hajjaj bin Artah, from Ataa, from Ibn Abbas," and he related it.Husayn bin Jafar Qattat, Daraqutni said, "He is trustworthy." Hajjaj bin Artah conceals defects in his transmission, and here he did narrate using the ambiguous "from" formula, but he has been corroborated. Ibn Jurayj corroborated him, narrating from Ataa, from Ibn Abbas, who said, "It is part of the sunnah that you should not go out on the day of breaking the fast until you have eaten, nor on the day of sacrifice until you have returned."Tabarani reported it in Awsat (454) from Ahmad bin Khulayd, who said, "Ishaq bin Abdullah Tamimi Adhani narrated to us," who said, "Ismail bin Ulaya narrated to us from Ibn Jurayj, from Ataa," with the same wording. The hadith, by these two chains, rises to the level of hasan. Haythami said in Majma (2/99), "Bazzar and Tabarani reported it in Awsat and Kabir, and the chain of Tabarani is hasan."Bazzar reported it, Kashf Astar (651), from Ibrahim bin Hani, who said, "Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahhab narrated to us," from Abu Shihab Abd Rabbih bin Nafi, a well-known Kufan, from Amash, from Muslim bin Sabih, from Ibn Abbas, who said, "It is part of the sunnah to eat before going out, even if only with a date."Bazzar said, "We do not know it with this wording except through this chain." And Haythami said in Majma (2/99), "Bazzar reported it, and it contains someone I do not recognize." He perhaps meant by that the teacher of Bazzar, while the rest are known. On this subject there is also a report from Ibn Umar. Ibn Majah reported it, and it contains Jabarah bin Mughallas and his teacher Mindal bin Ali, both of whom are daif. And from Ali bin Abu Talib, as reported by Tabarani, and it contains Sawwar bin Musab, who is daif. And from Ibn Abbas, as reported by Tabarani and Daraqutni, and it contains Hajjaj bin Artah, who is disputed. Bazzar also reported it through another route, about which Haythami said in Majma (2/202), "It contains someone I do not recognize."And from Jabir bin Samura, as reported by Bazzar. In its chain is Nasih Abu Abdullah, whom Ibn Main, Bukhari, Abu Dawud, and others graded as daif. And from Abu Saeed Khudri. Imam Ahmad reported it (11226), and it contains Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, whose narrations are graded hasan when they do not contradict other reports, but in this hadith he brought something objectionable, namely his statement, "When he finished his prayer, he prayed two units."What is sahih and firmly established from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is that he did not pray before the Eid prayer nor after it.In light of these hadiths and the reports transmitted from the companions and the successors, the majority of scholars held the view that one should hasten to eat on the day of breaking the fast before going out, and delay eating on the day of Adha, except that Imam Ahmad preferred, for one who had a sacrificial animal, [to delay eating].
