My dear friend instructed me to observe three practices, which I will not abandon until I die: fasting three days of every month, praying Duha, and sleeping only after performing Witr.
أوصاني خليلي بثلاث، لا أدعهن حتى أموت: صوم ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر، وصلاة الضحى، ونوم على وتر.
Bukhari narrated it in tahajjud (1178), and Muslim in the prayer of travelers (721), both through the route of Shubah, who said, Abbas Jariri, that is Ibn Faruq, told us, from Abu Uthman Nahdi, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it, the wording being that of Bukhari. In Muslim's wording, "and the two rakahs of Duha."Ahmad (10559) and Ibn Khuzayma (1223) added, through the route of Sulayman bin Abu Sulayman, from Abu Hurairah, after his statement "and the prayer of Duha," the phrase "for it is the prayer of those who turn back to Allah repeatedly."However, Daraqutni said of Sulayman bin Abu Sulayman that he is majhul, and no one deemed him reliable except Ibn Hibban. The hadith of Zayd bin Arqam will come later, "the prayer of those who turn back to Allah repeatedly is when the young camels' hooves grow hot from the sand," and this is the prayer of Duha.
