The Prophet's ﷺ recitation was such that someone in the chamber could hear him while he was inside the house.
كانت قراءة النبي ﷺ على قدر ما سمعه من في الحجرة، وهو في البيت.
Abu Dawud (1327) and Ahmad (2446) both narrated it from the hadith of Ibn Abu Zinad, from Amr bin Abu Amr, the freed slave of Muttalib, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, who mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan due to the discussion surrounding Ibn Abu Zinad, who is Abdul-Rahman, there being disagreement about him, though his hadith is hasan. The Hafiz said in Taqrib, "He was truthful, but his memory changed when he came to Baghdad, and he was a jurist."We found another route for it, narrated by Ibn Khuzayma (1157), and through his route by Ibn Hibban (2581), from the hadith of Layth bin Saad, from Khalid bin Yazid, from Saeed bin Abu Hilal, from Makhrama bin Sulayman, that Kurayb informed him, saying, "I asked Ibn Abbas, 'What was the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ like at night?' He said, 'He would recite in one of his rooms, so that whoever was outside could hear him.'"Its chain of transmission is hasan, and it strengthens the first chain of transmission.
