The Prophet ﷺ heard a man reciting in the mosque, so he said, "May Allah have mercy on him. He has reminded me of such-and-such verses that I had dropped from such-and-such surah."Abbad bin Abdullah added, on the authority of Ayesha, that the Prophet ﷺ was performing the night prayer in her house when he heard the voice of Abbad praying in the mosque.He asked, "Ayesha, is that the voice of Abbad?"She replied, "Yes."He said, "O Allah, have mercy on Abbad."
سمع النبي ﷺ رجلا يقرأ في المسجد، فقال: رحمه الله لقد أذكرني كذا وكذا آية أسقطتهن من سورة كذا وكذا وزاد عباد بن عبد الله، عن عائشة: تهجد النبي ﷺ في بيتي، فسمع صوت عباد يصلي في المسجد فقال: يا عائشة أصوت عباد هذا؟ قالت: نعم، قال: اللهم ارحم عبادا.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Testimonies (2655) from Muhammad bin Ubayd bin Maymun, who said, Isa bin Yunus informed us, from Hisham, from his father, from Ayesha, and he related the hadith.He also narrated it in the Book of the Virtues of the Quran (5038), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of the Prayer of Travelers (788), both of them from the hadith of Abu Usama, from Hisham, similarly.Muslim also narrated it from the hadith of Abda and Abu Muawiya, from Hisham, and it contains the following, the Prophet ﷺ was listening to a man's recitation in the masjid, and he said, "May Allah have mercy on him, he has reminded me of a verse I had forgotten."
