He reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to him and Fatimah, daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, one night and asked, "Will you two not pray?"I replied, "Messenger of Allah, our souls are in Allah's hand. When He wishes to rouse us, He will rouse us."When I said that, he turned away without responding to me. Then I heard him as he was leaving, striking his thigh and saying, "But man is, more than anything, given to dispute" [Kahf 18:54].
Bukhari narrated it in Tahajjud (1127), and Muslim in the Prayer of Travelers (775), both from the hadith of Zuhri, from Ali bin Husayn, that Husayn bin Ali told him, from Ali bin Abu Talib, who related it.
