Imam Ahmad narrated it from Yaala bin Ubayd (6524), and from Waki (6817), both of them from Fitr (that is, Ibn Khalifa), from Mujahid, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he related it. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (445), and narrated it by another route from Fitr with his chain, in the same manner. Dhahabi said in Uluww (93), "Its chain is strong."Its basis is found in Sahih Bukhari, in the Book of Manners (5991), from Muhammad bin Kathir, who said, Sufyan reported to us, from Amash, Hasan bin Amr, and Fitr, from Mujahid, from Abdullah bin Amr. Sufyan said, Amash did not raise it up to the Prophet ﷺ, while Hasan and Fitr raised it up, attributing it to the Prophet ﷺ, but he did not mention the first part of the hadith, which is the point being cited as evidence.This disagreement over whether it is raised to the Prophet or stopped at the companion does not affect the soundness of the hadith, because the reliable narrators raised it, and that is what is correct in such a case. The Hafiz mentioned the disagreement among the narrators, and concluded that raising it to the Prophet is the relied-upon view.
