Aishah reported that she would be menstruating, not praying, lying down beside the prayer place of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he prayed on his small mat, and when he prostrated, part of his garment would touch her.
ﷺ أنها كانت تكون حائضا لا تصلي، وهي مفترشة بحذاء مسجد رسول الله ﷺ وهو يصلي على خمرته، إذا سجد أصابها بعض ثوبه.
Bukhari narrated it in Hayd (333) and Salah (381), and Muslim in Salah (513), both through Sulayman Shaybani, from Abdullah bin Shaddad, who said, "I heard my aunt Maymuna," and then he mentioned the hadith.As for "khumra," with the khaa vowelled with damma and the meem with sukun, Tabari said, it is a small prayer mat made from palm leaves, called by this name because it covers the face and the hands from the heat and cold of the ground. If it is large, it is called a hasir (mat).
