Jabir reported, "I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, and we came to a watering place. He said, 'Will you not drink, Jabir?'I replied, 'Yes.'"Jabir continued, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dismounted, and I drank. Then he went off to relieve himself, and I prepared water for his ablution. He came back and performed ablution, then he stood and prayed in a single garment, crossing its two ends over each other. I stood behind him, so he took hold of my ear and placed me on his right side."
Muslim narrated it in "The Prayer of Travelers and Shortening It" (766:196), from Hajjaj bin Shayr, who said, my teacher Muhammad bin Jafar Madaini, Abu Jafar, narrated to me, who said, Warqa narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir bin Abdullah, who said, then he mentioned it.
