The Prophet ﷺ said, "A woman's prayer in her house is better than her prayer in her courtyard, and her prayer in her private chamber is better than her prayer in her house."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: صلاة المرأة في بيتها أفضل من صلاتها في حجرتها، وصلاتها في مخدعها أفضل من صلاتها في بيتها.
Abu Dawud (570) narrated it from Ibn Muthanna, that Amr bin Asim reported to them, saying, Hammam narrated to us, from Qatada, from Muwarriq, from Abu Ahwas, from Abdullah bin Masud, and he related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Amr bin Asim bin Ubaydullah Kullabi Qaysi, for there is disagreement concerning him. Ibn Main deemed him reliable, and Ibn Saad said, "Salih," and Nasai said, "There is no harm in him." A narrator of this standing makes his hadith hasan.Hakim graded it sahih (1/209), saying, "It meets the criteria of the two Sheikhs," and indeed both of them relied on Muwarriq bin Mushraj Ajli as evidence. Ibn Khuzayma likewise graded it sahih. He narrated it with two wordings, the first of which is this one (1690), from Ibn Muthanna Abu Musa, transmitted the same way.The second (1685) he also narrated from Abu Musa Muhammad bin Muthanna, transmitted the same way, but its wording was, "The woman is a private matter to be concealed, and when she goes out, Satan looks at her admiringly, and she is closest to the face of her Lord when she is in the innermost part of her house."Tirmidhi narrated it (1173) through the route of Amr bin Asim, transmitted the same way, but confined it to his saying, "The woman is a private matter to be concealed, and when she goes out, Satan looks at her admiringly," and he said, "Hasan gharib."
